What is Tilt?
When a
bettor becomes frustrated or emotional after a losing streak or a
bad beat and begins making impulsive or irrational bets. That is, they are on Tilt. For example, imagine you have a
bet on
Under 48.5 in the NFL. The score is 48-0 with 1 second left, with the team receiving the ball from a punt being up 48-0. Instead of letting the ball go dead, or running the ball out, the team not only decides to try to return the ball but then proceeds to go the whole field and score a touchdown. That would put you on tilt. People tilt in different ways. Phil Helmuth is infamous in poker for going on tilt. Going for a walk and removing yourself from the situation can be a coping mechanism for being on tilt.
