Chalk (also known as ‘laying chalk’ or 'taking chalk') is when a bettor takes a strong (or short) favorite because they believe it is extremely likely to win. A bettor may add a chalk bet or a series of chalk bets to increase their parlayodds. They may also buy points (in totals or spreadmarkets, for example) to turn a traditional main betting market into more of a chalk play.
